The test run of the
Gyan Vani Lucknow station, commenced on
20th May 2002, with four
hours of transmission. Soon, thereafter
the broadcast timings were increased to
eight hours, (four hours each in morning
and evening) At present 16 hours
programme is being transmitted through
Gyan Vani.
Most of the
programmes are related to general
awareness and literacy; Health Care;
continuing and adult education; Primary,
Secondary & Higher Secondary educational
programmes; Higher Education including
that of Indira Gandhi National Open
University (IGNOU) and Uttar Pradesh
Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU).
As on date 60% of the programmes are
curriculum based and 40% are community
based. These programmes have been
received very well by the community in
general and school and college going
students in particular. The programmes
have not only tried to reduce the gap
between the student and the educational
institution, (for the programmes of
IGNOU and
UPRTOU) but
have also enabled the listeners to have
an up to date information about the
various developments in different
spheres of life in our programme zone.
Till date 257
programmes on different subjects and
formats have been produced by the
Lucknow station of Gyan Vani. These
programmes are being used by other
Gyan Vani
Station across the
country, particularly in the Hindi speak
areas.
