The Learner Support Centres
have been established in almost all the major
educational institutions of the region such as
all Government Engineering Colleges for MCA/BCA/CIC
Programme and leading Medical Institutions such
as KGMU, Lucknow, SGPGI, Lucknow, BHU, Varanasi,
College of Nursing for the Medical Programmes.
We are also negotiating with the Directors of
leading Institutions for establishing Programme
Study Centre for Agricultural Programmes such as
Diploma in Dairy Technology, Diploma Programme
in Value Added Products from fruits and
vegetables and Diploma in Meat Technology. We
have conducted the survey for the setting up our
Programme Study Centres for Agricultural Based
Programmes in RBS College, Agra, Banaras Hindu
University, Varanasi and Central Institute for
Sub-tropical Horticulture, Rehmand Kheda Kakori,
Lucknow.
At present we have 87 Learner Support
Centres including 15 Learner Support Centres established during 2005 & 2006.
We have been endeavoring to provide effective support
services to the students through the Regional Centre and the Study Centres of
the region. At the Regional Centre, the computerized student’s record has
enabled us to handle the student’s queries in terms of transfer and other
related matters in minimum possible time. Compliance to the headquarters
deadlines as per the prescribed norms and schedule has all along been done to
ensure that the required information is sent immediately. During the past few
years, various activities have been decentralized to ensure proper coordination
as also timely accomplishment of task. Besides this, we have been effectively
coordinating the Gyan Vani Channel started at Lucknow in the month of May 2002.
Special promotional information is being repeatedly broadcast through this
channel during the IGNOU hours. As on date ten hours of programmes is being
broadcast every day. The programmes include school based programmes (primary,
secondary and higher secondary), general awareness, and literacy; health care;
continuing and adult education; higher education including that of technical
management and distance education programmes. Programmes of IGNOU and UPRTOU are
regularly broadcast
