| General Activities performed at, Lucknow Regional Centre | ||||

Interactive Radio Counselling: It is a recent concept in distance learning in our country. To foster interaction between the learners and their counsellors, resource persons and experts online phone in counseling is carried out. Interactive radio counselling sessions are broadcast for one hour on every Sunday (1, 3 & 5 for the RC and 2&4 for the HQ.) from the Regional Centre. This programme has received very good response from the learners. It is urged upon all the coordinators to give maximum possible publicity for making IRC an effective programme. Teleconferencing: To promote interaction between learners and resource persons/experts, one-way video and two way audio teleconferencing system is under operation since February 1995. The teleconferencing sessions are organized for different programmes. To make the teleconferencing effective, all regular centers have been provided with a 29” Colour TV, and a dish antenna. It is ensured that all the learners support centres provide these facilities to the learners. Tele Learning Centre Tele Learning Centre computer related programmes is functional at Regional Centre, Lucknow w.e.f. 24th February 2000. The Term End Examinations of BIT, ADIT and PGDLAN programmes has been smoothly and successfully carried out at the TLC-2700. We are also conducting BCA, MCA, CIC and PGDLAN theory and practical counseling at Regional Centre TLC-2700. Tele- learning Centre is being utilized effectively to conduct theory and practical counseling sessions.. Convocation Convocation is regularly organized at the Regional Centres to award degree, diplomas not only to the learners of this region but also to all those IGNOU learners who wish to attend the function at this regional centre. In the recent convocation Prof. KNS Yadav, Vice-Chancellor, UP Rajarshi Tondon Open University, Allahabad was the Guest of honors. The Convocation was held at Fair Deal hall of Lucknow Christian Degree College, Lucknow. In all students of various programme were awarded diplomas and degrees. Library at Regional Centre Regional Centre library is having reference books, audio/video cassettes, journals to meet the requirement of IGNOU students, academic counselors and general public. of Distance Education Students Affairs Cell In order to attend to the student queries and problems and to provide authentic information to the students the University established a Student Affairs Cell which has recently been re- structured as Student Service Centre (SSC). Greater attention is paid to resolve students problems and quires through student service centre. Success of Open Learning System depends on how promptly, efficiently and effectively we respond to the students’ queries and curiosity. Accordingly a Student Information Desk has been set up in Regional Centre and Study Centre. Providing quality education with care and concern especially to those who are socially and educationally disadvantaged has been spelt out as the top priority of the University by the present Vice-Chancellor, Prof V N Rajsekharan Pillai. Regional Centre Lucknow established its Student Affairs Desk on 1st Jan 1998 and presently it is under supervision of Dr. Anil K Dimri, Deputy Director and Mr. Ravish Srivastava, Assistant. All relevant information is made available to the learners/ prospective learners from this Desk. |
